  (RESULTS CORRECTED ON 1/9/04 AT 11:00 PM) The New Year Stagger 10K was an age & sex handicap race with a staggered start. Each age group started at different times, with the various start times devised using age grading statistics from World Masters Athletics. The purpose was to level the playing field between older and younger runners and between males and females, so that one's overall finish place would be determined by one's running ability alone, not by one's age or gender. The results below show the order of finish, with each runner's total time-- the time from when we started the official clock to when they finished-- shown in the "tot. time" column. The amount of time each runner waited to be permitted to start-- their age group's handicap-- is in the "hand." column. And, of course, subtract the handicap from the total time, and you get each runner's actual time-- the amount of time it took them to get from the start to the finish-- as shown in the "act. time" column. Names of women in the results below are underlined, while names of SVR members appear in a bluish-purple color. If you spot any mistakes in the results, please contact the Webmaster. Also be sure to check out the results as sorted by the actual finish times, plus the results by age groups and our pointless age graded results, too. In a few days, we'll be posting a race report and a bunch of photos, so come on back for that! |
