Look! It's snowing in the SVR logo! SVR Winter Series 2001-2002

Final Women's Age Group Standings

Winter Series 2001-2002
Winter Series in review
Final women's standings: overall, age groups
Final men's standings: overall, age groups

At the end of the series, awards were given to the top two runners in each age group (provided that they were not in the top five overall). Runners had to finish at least five races and be SVR members by 1 March 2002 to be eligible for the age group awards. Names of SVR members below appear in blue. As with the overall awards, each runner's six best point totals counted towards their final score (indicated in the "-2" column). Check out the men's standings page for an overall view of the standings.

Tip: If you are using the right Web browser, you can hover your mouse over the column headings below ("WS1", "WS2", etc.) to see the name and date of the race in question.

Female 13 & Under

1.Audrey Lawrence8667 727780 7545745714th
2.Polly Barks 787984  848641141117th
It's Audrey Lawrence all the way! 12-year-old Audrey finished second in this age group last year, missing out on a prize because we only gave out one award per age group. This year the Clarke County resident had the top spot all to herself! Audrey's classmate Polly Barks fell short on points but ran enough races to take second-- and she finished ahead of Audrey at the three races where they faced each other. Whatever the case, Clarke County High School is going to have a good cross-country team in a few years!
Ineligible: Jessie Daddio, Colleen Adams, Connie McKenzie, Elizabeth Mumaw, Turner Adams, Amanda Reap, Mary Devereux, Nina Pfeiffer, Beth Dickey, Joanna French, Brittney Latshaw, Cecelia Osowski, Ashley Devereux, Alex Kerby

Female 14-16

*Rachel Eisenfeld99 9796979986966705842nd
Sherando High School's Rachel Eisenfeld was the only runner in this age group to meet the five-race eligibility requirement, but since she finished second overall in the series, we're using the female 14-16 age group trophies as doorstops. Maybe next year!
Ineligible: Jessica Artone, Tasmin Fanning, Anna Lawrence, Joanne Britland, Mary Naylor, Carolyn Rose, Christina Hancock, Dixie Boyd

Female 17-19
As nobody in this age group showed up for more than two races, we're using these two awards as corn-on-the-cob holders. I know, I know, it's not corn season. Just play along, will ya?
Ineligible: Jaime Lockhart, Lauren Thomas, Beth Degner, Leslie Lawson, Athena Azevedo, Marty Scully

Female 20-29

1.Jen Peachey7855 607168 6339539518th
2.Leigh Brown83 74 74 707337437420th
Jen Peachey has won her age group for a second year in a row, thanks in part to Mike Brown! Mikey took wife Leigh on a weekend getaway in February, causing her to miss the Lincoln Valentine's 3.4 Miler and fall behind Jen in points. Of course, both women missed out on a few points by serving as race directors during the series-- Jen put on the Mystery Distance Run, and Leigh handled the Treasure Hunt 5K. So kudos to both for their service to the club! And hey, they both get awards, too.
Ineligible: Katherine Lowery, Brenda Schrank, Julie Miller, DeAnna Hines, Beth Whitehead, Amy DeBor, Amy Nieters, Shannon Nally, Carol Gill, Stephanie Jenkins, Katie Kerr-Hobert, Sarah Vincenti, Kimberly Thompson, Jill Regan, Michelle VanHorn, Karen Sunara, Elizabeth Lewis, Shayne Johnson, Rebecca Bowdoin, Theresa Dean, Liesl Swogger, Robin Warren

This age group was up in the air until the Claymont Retro Ramble 5K, when we finally knew for certain that the top four women in this age group would end up with overall awards. Thus, congratulations to first-time Winter Series participant Tina Gray, the first finisher in the women's 30-39 age group! The other eligible runners behind Tina only ran five races apiece, so it pretty much came down to who was the fastest-- and it's hard to beat Vicky Krossman in that respect. Vicky's presence at Claymont (along with the absences of Cheryl Harrison and Loren Little) helped her nab second place.
Ineligible: Jill Devereux, Ann Robb, Celeste Heath, Nancy Gauthier, Lori Fountain-Bales, Barbara O'Melinn, Lisa Radler, Jeannette Shaffer, Julie Kerby, Laeticia Warring, Kelly Cockrill, Tammi DeSimone, Jill Montaquila, Lisa Green, Kelly Young, Lisa Younis, Georgiana Pardo, Kimberly Brake, Gillian Kirkpatrick, Laura White, Myra Purkey, Georgia Milam, Rhonda Taylor, Beth Pippin, Gina Gallagher, Amy Poersch, Leesa Anderson, Pam Wilson, Sherri Dennis, Carol Flax, Moira Ramsey, Teresa Brichner, Kitty Scott, Carryann Warren, Cara Rathel, Monica Chapman, Laura Adams

8.Sheri Kreuz 58 63 70717633833823rd
49-year-old Nancy Specht, running her final Winter Series as a member of this age group, just didn't have enough to beat Fauquier County 47-year-old Kathy Manzo! Kathy may have ended up nine points ahead of Nancy, but the two finished quite close at most of the races. In the end, though, Kathy managed to finish ahead of Nancy at six of the eight races, giving her the first place award. But since we added a second award to each age group this year, Nancy also gets a trophy!
Ineligible: Gabby Vaughn, Diane Daddio, Ruth Riemenschneider, Elizabeth Scholder, Karen Knuepfer, Denise Amonson, Rossi Selzer, Suzanne Elbon, Carol O'Leary, Judy McCarthy, Kathy Lane, Angela McKee, Yvonne Gatward, Betty Schutte-Box, Leslie Kash, Linda Martinsen, Renee Gallagher, Clissy Funkhouser, Debbie Phraner, Cynthia Hopper, Patti Mulkeen-Corley, Susan Smith, Donna Clevenger, Roxzanne Jones, Sonia Michels

Female 50-59
With Sandy Adams injured and Kathy Smart missing too many races, this age group was officially closed by the sixth race. Better luck next year!
Ineligible: Kathy Smart, Dee Nelson, Sandy Adams, Mary Wians, Laurice Corbitt, Bonnie Jacobs, Deborah Norris, Lyn Widmyer

Female 60-69
Since we only had one person in this age group run one race, we're keeping these awards until next year.
 Ineligible: Mary Lou Pugh

Female 70 & Over
I don't know if we've ever had a finisher in this age group! So if there are any 70+ runners out there, an award in this age group is yours for the taking next year! :)
