When and Where
Saturday 20 July 2002 on Loudoun Street in Winchester, VA. Winchester is approximately 12 miles west of Berryville, 25 miles north of Front Royal, 25 miles south of Martinsburg, and 75 miles west of Washington, DC. The racing starts at 8:30 AM; see below for a full list of heat times.

Registration and Packet Pick-Up
7:00 AM to 8:15 AM in front of the Old Frederick County Courthouse, on the Loudoun Street Mall between Boscawen and Piccadilly Streets-- right by the finish line. Check out these maps on MapQuest, MapBlast, and/or TopoZone. Loudoun Street is closed to traffic in the mall area, but parking is available on city streets nearby. There are a number of one-way streets in downtown Winchester, so it might be a good idea to have a map handy.

Course
The USATF certified (#VA95003JS) one mile course is point-to-point, starting, um, on Loudoun Street exactly one mile south of the finish line & registration area! Please allow yourself a little extra time to walk or jog to the start before your heat. There are no turns on the course. Three-quarters of the route is paved and one-quarter of it is brick & concrete, and the road will be closed to traffic. The estimated starting elevation is 722 feet above sea level; the ending elevation (and low point) is around 708 feet; and the maximum elevation is 745 feet, about 0.6 miles into the course.

Awards
We'll have cash prizes for the overall winners, awards in open age groups (number depends on participation), trophies for the top teams, ribbons for walkers and children, awards for the top two male & female walkers, and random drawings (you must be present to win!).

Female age groups used for the 2001 race: 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, 60 & over.

Results
Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope with your entry form if you would like to have the full results mailed to you. All results will be posted near the finish line after each heat. And, of course, complete results will be posted here on the SVR Web site as soon as somebody wakes up the Webmaster!

Team Rules
Team categories: Male, Female, Mixed. Only the first three finishers on each team will be scored; in the case of mixed teams, if there are no women amongst a team's top three, then the team's top two men and their top woman will be scored. (In other words, at least one woman will be counted in the score of a mixed team.) Combined finish times will be used for the scoring. All entry forms for the members of a team must be submitted together.
